This is how I made my first $300 from LinkedIn

From $15 to $300, I became financially independent in 15 months because of LinkedIn.

“When I first stumbled upon LinkedIn, I was a personality full of confusion..

My calligraphy business had failed.

I was looking for a job.

From Naukri.com to Internshala, I was jumping on every job-seeking platform to get a job.

Nothing seemed to work.

That’s when my friend told me about LinkedIn.

And that was the turning point in my life.”

Twitter helps you monetize your work.

Medium helps you monetize your work.

But LinkedIn does not offer direct monetization.

So..

You cannot make money directly from the platform.

But the platform offer networking opportunities.

Opportunities to connect with founders..

Opportunities to connect with influencers..

Opportunities to connect with creators..

Opportunities to learn from intellectual people..

Before I used LinkedIn to make money, it was important I had skills.

Writing was my skill.

Since 2016, I had been writing blogs — content writing was my skill.

After polishing my skills by observing LinkedIn creators and attending multiple webinars,

- I positioned myself as a Content Writer on LinkedIn
- I started creating content on LinkedIn

And then things started changing.

Here’s how LinkedIn helped me shape my life:

Project: Writing affiliate articles

Since I had been actively creating content on LinkedIn, I received a connection request.

On connecting the person reached out to me on LinkedIn, shared his requirements and checked my samples.

I started working with him and received a few articles by him.

The payment I received here was per article.

Do you receive inmails?

How often do you respond to those inmails?

One such inmail I received in November.

I responded.

And sealed the deal.

I’ll be honest.

This was a one-time project.

Project: LinkedIn Profile Management

I had attended a LinkedIn workshop for which a Facebook group was created.

We were asked to post daily tasks. Like everyone, I did it too .

The client found me in the Facebook community, interacted over LinkedIn, hooked a call, after exchanging few emails, she became my first long-term client.

The $300

Project: LinkedIn Content Creation

The client reached out to me through LinkedIn after looking at my LinkedIn profile. Booked a call, exchanged few emails, did not negotiate, paid the price I charged. Got another retainer client.

The reason why I made less in the initial months was not just about not getting clients, but also the irresistible offer you must have before reaching out to your prospects.

Did you see how LinkedIn helped me land clients in different ways!

Through LinkedIn inmails and connections to publishing content, I landed all of these clients through LinkedIn.

But what made them reach out to me?

How did they find me?

That’s the question.

And the answer is wholesome — The LinkedIn Growth Recipe.

It’s the blend of three: optimizing your LinkedIn profile, writing a killer profile and creating a strategy.

Writing your LinkedIn profile includes three writing areas: crafting your LinkedIn headline, about section and work experience section.

When you optimize and write your LinkedIn profile that’s highly targeted for your ideal client, they will reach out to you.

And that’s when you create opportunities for yourself like I did.

Opportunities on LinkedIn are massive. But how to leverage the platform at your best is still questionable to many.
