To improve your writing craft, you need to do much more than writing daily. Read 5 underrated tips to improve your writing craft and upskill yourself.

I receive messages from writers on LinkedIn. Sometimes a pitch and the other times, work samples thrown ruthlessly into the DMs.

And most of them have a common dot. What’s that? They need massive improvements. While you may want to improve your writing craft, you believe only in the traditional and ugly writing advice most folks give: write daily.

Nah. Not so true.

When I restarted writing during the pandemic, I knew I’m starting from scratch. I knew content writing but the gap in my career was a blocker. I knew trends have changed. Writing has changed. And so, I need to unlearn many things and start from point zero.

Here’s how I did it and you can do it too.

Observe fellow creators’ work

Pick your favorite creator. Follow their work and read the content they publish on social media.

If they offer the same services as yours, read their published work.

For example, when I transitioned my writing services from LinkedIn ghostwriting to long-form blog posts, I observed my favorite creator’s work, their published work they have done for their clients.

A few questions I asked myself while observing their work:

  • What is the tone they are using in their writing?
  • How easily can I understand the message they want to communicate?
  • What is the hook/ introduction they use and how it differs from mine?

These are the basic questions that you need to ask yourself when you observe their content. Answer them and use as the foundation to improve your writing.

Implement this one upskilling tip and see the difference in your learning.
